The name Mitsumori, addressed to the letter, is believed to be Goto Keijo 後藤桂乗.Keijo Goto was the 14th generation of the Goto Shirobei family of sword fitting makers.Sakai Boncho was the lord of the Shonai Domain and is known for his waka and haikai poetry, but he is also known for his excellent sword appraisal skills.
The letter expresses gratitude for the care given to the crops (swords, etc.) since spring, and states that it will present the recently rumored "Ootsuzura" (Dōran) as a gift. He also said that the items inside could be used as toys for children.The text also describes the state of the three items (sword fittings, etc.) during this period.
