It is said to have been originally written by Guo Jujing of the Yuan dynasty.It was also introduced to Japan, where various publications and Japanese translations were produced during the Edo period, including Otogi Zoshi. It also influenced works such as "The Twenty-Four Filial Pies of Japan" and Ihara Saikaku's "The Twenty Unfilial Pies of Japan."
