This is a local fairy tale created during the Muromachi period, and is a tragic love story between Princess Joruri of Mikawa Province and the heir Ushiwakamaru.
The main text is generally consistent with the 10-line version printed in old movable type (published around the Keicho era), but there are also phrases that match the version published in the third year of the Shoho era. There are also long, original variants at the end of the chapters in the latter half of the book. It is noteworthy that some of the illustrations almost match those in the 10-line version printed in old movable type [for example, the scene at Fukiagehama Beach (see image)].
The 11-line version is extremely rare.
