A story set in the mid- to late Heian period. 4 volumes. The most popular theory is that the author was Senji (the daughter of Minamoto no Yoritomo), a consort to Princess Baishi of Rokujo Saiin. It seems to have been established between the 1040s and 1080s. A love story between the male protagonist, reminiscent of Kaoru from The Tale of Genji, and numerous ladies. The story is meticulously constructed while following previous works such as "The Tale of Genji," and is composed of gorgeous prose that makes full use of techniques such as allusions to poems.
