Confucianism in the early Edo period. His name is Su. His character is Kakufu. A person from Harima Province (Hyogo Prefecture). He is from the Shimo Reizei family. He is the grandson of Fujiwara no Teika XI. He is said to be the founder of modern Confucianism. At first, he entered the Buddhist priesthood, but after returning to secular life, he studied Neo-Confucianism, became friends with the Korean Confucian scholar Kang Mu, and established a family based on Confucianism. He was esteemed by Ieyasu TOKUGAWA, and as a private Confucian, he sent out disciples such as Sakugo MATSUNAGA, Razan HAYASHI and Jozan ISHIKAWA. He was a free and eclectic scholar who did not reject Buddhist elders, and was deeply interested in poetry. He is the author of ``Four Books and Five Classics of Wakun'', ``Quo Bunshu'', and ``Shuntetsuroku''. 4th to 5th year of Genna (1561-1619)
