【Eisyou Koutaigou】1835-1897 Empress of Emperor Komei at the end of the Edo period. Born December 13, Tempō 5. Sixth daughter of Kujō Hisatada. In 1849, she became the wife of Prince Osahito (Emperor Komei), and in 1850, she became the Empress after he ascended to the throne. In 1860, when Prince Sachinomiya (Emperor Meiji) was made Crown Prince, she was officially named as his real mother (her birth mother was Nakayama Keiko), and in 1868, she became Empress Dowager. She died January 11, 1897, aged 64. Her name was Asako.
【Nakajima Kumakichi】Baron. Brother-in-law of Iwakura Tomomitsu. Secretary to the Prime Minister, President of Furukawa Electric, Minister of Commerce and Industry, President of Tokyo Underground Railway, Chairman of International Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, Chairman of Nippon Cultural Broadcasting Corporation, etc.
