A tale of celebrations celebrating the prosperity of a samurai family, with a particular focus on the rise of the Genji clan. Giving examples from ancient Chinese kings, the book cites Japanese myths such as Amaterasu Omikami, Hikohohodemi no Mikoto, and Emperor Jimmu's conquest of the Tsuchigumo spider. Next, the origins of the successive Shoguns since the myth of Emperor Yamato Takeru's Kusanagi sword are described, followed by the prosperity of the Seiwa Genji clan, and finally the origins of the Genji clan's establishment of Hachiman Shrine as their ancestral shrine. The illustrations are meticulously drawn and in excellent condition.
