A preacher and tea master in the early modern period. At the age of 7, he received a degree at Joon-ji Temple of the Jodo sect Seizan School of Buddhism in Mino. After that, he worked on missionary activities in various parts of Sanyo, and in 1613 he became the 55th head priest of Seigan-ji Temple in Kyoto. In 1619, he was granted imperial permission to wear a purple robe and gave lectures on mandala in the imperial palace. He had a relationship with Kobori Enshu in tea ceremony, and with Teitoku and Kinoshita Nagayoko in waka and kyōka poetry, and also wrote the story book Sesuisho at the request of Shigemune Itakura.
