A statue of Nyoirin Kannon accompanied by the Tendai priest Shoku and a child from the Heian period.
This image is associated with the legend that in the first year of Tenroku (970), Shoku secluded himself on Mt. Shosha in Harima Province and carved the Nyoirin Kannon out of a cherry tree.
Similar examples are known from the Nezu Museum collection and the Daikakuji Temple collection (Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture).
It can be said to be a rare example of a combination of a statue and a portrait from the Muromachi period.
