An old tale of wealth attainment and animals repaying their kindness.The prototype is thought to be the "Broken Waist Sparrow" that appears in the "Uji Shui Monogatari."
Not much is known about the author, Ranyosai, but in any case he was likely a fully-fledged professional painter.
It is a gorgeous picture scroll with detailed depictions and plenty of gold leaf.
A full-scale picture scroll of this story is extremely rare.
