[Syoubou] 832-909 A monk from the early to middle Heian period. Born in the 9th year of Tencho. Shingon sect. The founder of the Ono school. He became a priest at Maga of Todaiji Temple. He studied Sanron, Hoso, and Kegon, and received empowerment from Minamoto-nin of Toji Temple. He founded Daigo-ji Temple and the Tonan-in Temple of Todai-ji Temple, and served as chief priest of To-ji Temple. He opened Mt. Kinpu in Yamato and is said to have brought about the revival of Shugendo. Died on July 6, 1997. He is 78 years old. Born in Sanuki (Kagawa Prefecture). His common name is Tsuneinou. His posthumous name was Rigen Daishi.
