This is a copy of Toshinari's poems on writing paper with brightly colored woodblock prints of butterflies, dragonflies, etc. Emperor Meisho was a female emperor during the early Edo period, and was the niece of the reigning shogun, Iemitsu Tokugawa. Emperor Meisho's accession to the throne was the first female emperor in 859 years since Emperor Shotoku of the Nara period.
