A haiku poet and tanka poet from the early Edo period. Born in Kyoto. He studied waka poetry under Kujo Tanemichi and Hosokawa Yusai, and renga poetry under Shoha. He opened a private school in Sanjo, Kyoto, and devoted himself to educating young children of the common people. He also aspired to become a haiku poet, and became a leading figure in the field, becoming the founder of the Teimon haiku school. Genki 2-Shoo 2 (1571-1653)
