1619-1662 Early Edo period. First son of Prince Tomohito. Born on November 1, 1622. Adopted by Emperor Gominoo, he was proclaimed prince in 1623. In 1624, he succeeded the Hachijonomiya (Katsuranomiya) family for two generations. He renovated the study and halls of Katsura Imperial Villa, which his father had built. He excelled in waka poetry and calligraphy. He died on July 7, 1662, at the age of 44. His original name was Tadahito.
