Former collection of Masayoshi Kato
A richly colored eleven-faced Kannon statue with plenty of gold paint and other colors of paint.
The eleven-faced Kannon is known to be worshiped as the guardian of shipping, and it is not unrelated to the fact that it was a legacy of Masayoshi Kato, who was involved in the founding of Nippon Yusen.
Masayoshi Kato worked hard to merge Mitsubishi Kisen and Kyodo Kisen, served as vicepresident of Nippon Yusen after its establishment, and devoted himself to the development of the shipping industry. He also served as chairman of the Tokyo City Council
and worked hard for the development of Tokyo.
