A poet and calligrapher. Born in Nagoya. His childhood name was Masanosuke, and he used various pen names such as Jūsō, Chida, Kanseki, and Momotsubo, and his residence was called Momoya. He served at Kamakura-no-miya and Ise Grand Shrine, and at the age of 30 he joined the Imperial Household Ministry's Poetry Bureau. He served as a professor at the Peeresses' School and as a member of the Poetry Bureau. He became a member of the Naniwazu-kai, a research group on ancient-style kana calligraphy formed by the Poetry Bureau's director Takasaki Masakaze and Ōguchi Shūgyo. He wrote in a moderate and approachable style of kana, and his calligraphy became very popular because he often contributed to calligraphy textbooks for girls. He left behind works such as "Momoya Eiso" and "Momi no Koeda".
