A feudal lord in the early Edo period. The first head of the Kishu Tokugawa clan. He was the tenth son of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Ieyasu granted him Mito, then Suruga and Totomi. In 1619 (Genwa 5), he became the lord of Kishu with a fief of 555,000 koku. He served as Gon Dainagon (provisional chief councilor). He developed Wakayama Castle and the castle town, built Toshogu Shrine in Wakaura, encouraged martial arts, created the land lord system, and established laws and regulations to establish the domain government.
【読み】
The addressee, Naito Tadashige, was Tokugawa Iemitsu's messenger. He had been called Shima no Kami since 1642. Yorinobu's black seal ("Minamoto") appears at the beginning of the letter, guaranteeing that the letter is from Yorinobu. This was intended for use in case of confidential correspondence.
