He expressed his congratulations on the fact that construction of the main hall will begin next spring.If it was Nishi Honganji, it was addressed to Junnyo Kosho, and if it was Higashi Honganji, it was addressed to Kyonyo Koju.The date ranges from 1606, when Takatora became the governor of Izumi, to 1630, when he died. The Nishi Honganji temple buildings were burned down during the Genna era, so the letter is thought to have been written in connection with their reconstruction.
【Todo Takatora 藤堂高虎】1556-1630: A daimyo of the Azuchi-Toyotomi and early Edo periods.
Born on January 6, 2nd year of the Kōji era. Served under Azai Nagamasa, Hashiba Hidenaga, and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. After Hideyoshi's death, he became close to Tokugawa Ieyasu, and distinguished himself on the Eastern Army at the Battle of Sekigahara. He served as lord of Imabari Domain in Iyo (Ehime Prefecture) until 1608, when he became the first head of the Todo clan to rule Ise-tsu Domain. He was awarded a stipend of 323,950 koku. He helped Ieyasu, who was struggling at the hands of Sanada Yukimura during the Summer Siege of Osaka. He died on October 5, 1630, at the age of 75. He was from Omi (Shiga Prefecture).
