1720-1750: Mid-Edo period, 115th Emperor. Reigned 1735-47. Born January 1, 1726. First son of Emperor Nakamikado. Mother was Fujiwara no Naoshi (Shinchūwamon'in). Ascended to the throne after his father abdicated. Revived the Daijosai and Niinamesai festivals. Loved waka poetry. During the time of the shogunate, the 8th Tokugawa Yoshimune and the 9th Tokugawa Ieshige. Died April 23, 1727, aged 31. Buried in Tsukinowa Mausoleum (Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City). Childhood name was Wakamiya. Given name was Akihito. Waka anthology includes "Sakuramachi-in Goshu."
