Originally a vertically long booklet, Dr. Komatsu Shigem（小松茂美）, in his book "Kohitsugakutaisei" （『古筆学大成』） estimates that the manuscript was written between the late 12th and early 13th centuries, making it a relatively old copy of the Goshuishuu （後拾遺和歌集）. This is a very rare piece, with only three in existence.
