【Kusakabe Meikaku】Calligrapher. His given name was Tosaku. Also known by the pseudonyms Suiu and Yakaku. Born in Shiga Prefecture. Served as the Dajokan (Grand Council of State) and Daishokan (Grand Secretary). He first studied the calligraphy styles of Maki Ryoko and Nukina Kaioku. Later, inspired by Yang Shoujin of the Qing Dynasty, who came to Japan, he mastered the calligraphy of the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties. His calligraphy took the calligraphy world of the Meiji period by storm. Tenpou 9 - Taisho 11 (1838-1922)
