1897-1982 - Showa-era artist.
Born on February 3, 1897. Studied ancient calligraphy and painting under father and son Tanaka Yubi and Shinbi. He studied the paper, designs, and techniques used in works such as the Tale of Genji Picture Scroll, and created a perfect copy of the scroll. He also created murals for the Hotel Okura and sliding door paintings for Naritasan Shinshoji Temple. Received the Yoshikawa Eiji Cultural Award in 1972. Born in Nagano Prefecture.
